Definition

DTF (Direct to Film) is a method of printing on PET film (Polyethylene terephthalate) which is subsequently applied to clothing using a heat press. The design is then fused into the fabric while maintaining vibrant colors and superior durability.

The terms "transfer", "DTF transfer" and " thermal transfer" all refer to the film on which a design has been printed.

Application of DTF

  • Industrial heat press

    • Set the press temperature between 285-305 F˚.
    • Adjust the press to high pressure and press the transfer for 10-12 seconds .
    • Remove transfer while still hot - HOT PEEL
    • Using parchment paper , cover the design completely.
    • Press the design one last time for 3-6 seconds .
  • Manual heat press

    • Set the press temperature between 300-330 F˚.
    • Press the transfer for 20-30 seconds while maintaining good pressure .
    • Remove transfer while still hot - HOT PEEL
    • Using parchment paper , cover the design completely.
    • Press the design one last time for 7-10 seconds .

Small note: The steps mentioned above are only for our DTF transfers. Not all presses are the same and not all DTF transfers are printed with the same materials.
